hmm... I'm not familiar with Australian brands. One thing this camera doesn't talk about is the ability to set manual exposure or even features like shutter or aperture priority which I personally find very helpful in learning photography (which I assume is what you're trying to do?). You might check out a few consumer and pro review sites before you buy just to get an idea of what else is out there:

Those sites are based in the States and the UK, but there may be something similar with reviews for Australian cameras as well. Hope that helps!

The fact that it only has a digital zoom isn't good. Digital zoom means you lose some of the 6.6 mega pixel quality you are paying for. Is this going to be your primary camera or a secondary? If it's a primary I'd go for something along the lines of a Canon A80. The A80 is 5MP and has a pretty decent optical zoom as well as allows you to use manual settings and lens attachments. I think Olympus and Nikon have similar camera's as well. Yes, it costs more then this one, but you get what you pay for.
