girljinxed @ 03:23 pm: That's it, I'll do it!
Okay, personally I've been eying NYIP for about 4-5 years now. I was always a bit skeptical. But over the years, they just seem to be improving. I've even driven by the office just to see it. And after many attempts of enrolling in your standard 4 year college, I'm convinced that's just not for me.

I have a passion for photography. I also love to travel. I just moved back from Hawaii (saw there's also another Hawaiian here *smile*) and realized that there was so many beautiful things I could've taken pictures of besides for my own enjoyment. Now that I'm back on the mainland I'm pretty sure I want to enroll in NYIP. I cannot find any downfalls and honestly it seems like something especially for me!

So, I'm having them mail me another catalog (as if 20 or so weren't enough) and I'm going to take the plunge here soon. I just thought I'd say hi and see how it was going for everyone else taking the course. I've been quite curious on the actual "certificate" that you receive at the end of the course. Anyway know the professional name for it? Is it a graduation diploma?

Anyway, I'll keep everyone posted once I do enroll. Hope everything works out well =)

iamtheyeti @ 06:17 am: an email I recieved this morning from NYIP:

Dear Jason,

Congratulations! We're sending this e-mail to let you know that the
Photo
Project that you recently submitted has been selected by the NYI
faculty to
receive the NYI Award of Merit. We'll be sending your project back to
you
shortly, along with your Merit Award. We wanted to let you know the
good
news and advise you that this means there will be a slight delay while
we
prepare the reward. Please be patient. You have reason to be proud of
this achievement.

Amy, NYI Student Services Coordinator

I wonder which photo won the award? I'm excited!

iamtheyeti @ 05:29 pm: bleh, still no unit one materials. it's been over a month since i recieved my welcome package. so,i called nyip today. they said they'd send out another package tomorrow, but if the other one shows up in the meantime i'm responsible for shipping the duplicate back. means i probably got about another 2 or 3 week wait before i can get started. geez!

iamtheyeti @ 06:50 pm: Hello and welcome!

Let me start things off by saying this,
there is a terrific website at:

http://groups.msn.com/NYIPRoundtablePart2

that also has a message board, and
does a fantastic job of keeping people
informed about NYIP. In fact, their website
contributed directly in my decision to
enroll at NYIP. It's a great bunch of
past,present,and future students helping
each other out. A beautiful thing really.

So then why is this
community here?

Well,mostly because there wasn't
one,lol!

and perhaps because I have this crazy
thought/idea/vision/hope/etc
that this community might
one day be something like
the roundtable
for those of
us who LJ.
